A few months ago, Ashley and I tried out Farm Fresh To You and it has been one of the best things for our health and eating habits since we realized how little salt recipes actually need. Farm Fresh To You is a food delivery service that brings fresh, organic produce to your door, straight from the farmers. How cool is that?
There are so many reasons why this is just an all-around amazing service that Ashley and I will continue into the distant future:
1) This is community supported agriculture. Put your money where your mouth is and support local farmers. Farmers put a lot of effort in to make the food you eat and they definitely are not taking home the big bucks. Take it from this girl, who I'd buy from in an instant if I could. The list of produce each week also tells you the farm it came from, which is pretty nifty.
2) Fresh, organic produce. And I'm not talking about the "fresh" produce you get from supermarkets. I'm referring to freshly picked when ripe, not days or weeks before being placed on a truck or in a shipping container before it goes to the store "fresh." I cannot stress this enough. Produce from these boxes last weeks (that is if we didn't eat the produce immediately anyways).
3) Delivered to your door. Farm Fresh To You has pretty much replaced our produce shopping at the market (except for a few things every once in a while).
4) Get to try new things. Each box contains an assortment of seasonal produce. This is fantastic because I love finding new recipes with foods I don't normally cook with. The service and website even provide recipes for each item so you can always find something to make. Also, if there is something you don't like, that's okay because there is a "do not send me this every again" list. For example, we will not receive turnips ever again. I tried to use turnips once. And failed. In spectacular fashion with a scalloped turnips recipe. It. Was. Awful.
5) Cost and options. Some might argue that it's a bit on the expensive side. Well, we did the math and it's more or less the same if you bought the same items at an organic food store. Farm Fresh To You has several different box size and type options you can choose from. Want only fruit or stuff ready to eat with no prep? They have it. Need to feed a large family, get a larger box. Ashley and I get the regular box and it's more than enough for the two of us.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the experience. As we get a new box every week, I will update on Tuesdays what is in the current week's box. Throughout the week I will update the post with what I did with the items.
See this week's items after the break!
