Wine Wednesday - 2009 The Tractor Guy Pinot Noir

This week's edition of Wine Wednesday brings us to a nice Pinot Noir that we got as part of a wedding gift. Ash and I cracked this lovely Pinot a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. This is a well-balanced Pinot Noir and was tasty right after opening. The berry flavor came through after a little bit of breathing so I would recommend some decanting time to fully enjoy.

This wine was produced and bottled by The Tractor Guy Winery and is a blend of varietals in the Sonoma Coast Appellation. I feel that this vintage sourced some great grapes and that it easily would be at a higher price point if labeled by a more well-known producer.

Scouting around where you might be able to pick up a bottle, shows prices ranging from $11-$25. The quality is pretty good and I'd grab a couple of bottles in a heartbeat if it was $20 or less.

This Pinot Noir has a beautiful ruby color and has a nice medium body with long legs.

The nose starts with a weak cherry aroma followed by spices. The cherry really started to come through after breathing for a little bit.

Taste was cherry and strawberry with some spiced apple to finish it up. The texture is smooth and the tannins silky and well-balanced.

This was quite enjoyable on its own. If I were to pair this with anything, I'd probably have to go with some nice baby-back pork ribs slathered in a tangy sauce.

Cost: $11-$25
