Ingredients
1 tbs olive oil
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded Italian-style four cheese blend
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (cut out if you want to minimize the spice factor)
1 grilled chicken breast, sliced (optional)
2 links Italian sausage, sliced (optional)
Directions
- Heat olive oil in sauce pan over medium heat. Saute garlic for about a minute.
- Add sun-dried tomatoes, cream, pepper flakes, pepper and let simmer for three minutes.
- Slowly add cheese in as it melts, letting it thicken over time, about 7 minutes.
- Add in fresh basil and let simmer for another minute.
- Use any pasta you like (my favorite is penne) and feel free to add your choice or protein (chicken or sausage or anything that piques your fancy.
Seems like most pasta sauce recipes want me to simmer for like 2 hours. That alone makes this recipe a winner.
ReplyDeleteWhile it doesn't require 2 hours, longer definitely makes for a better sauce...I'm always super impatient when it comes to creamy sauces and rarely let them thicken up like they should.
